Ghanaian midfield prospect Fatawu Ganiwu has completed a move to Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv, signing a three-year contract with the 16-time Ukrainian Premier League champions.
The highly-rated 18-year-old joins Dynamo Kyiv from Ghanaian Division Three side AS Koppan, an Accra-based development club where he has spent much of his young career.
Dynamo Kyiv reportedly beat competition from several clubs to secure Ganiwu’s signature, with the talented midfielder successfully completing his medical examinations before putting pen to paper on his contract.
Ganiwu has already attracted significant international attention, having previously undergone trials with several high-profile European clubs, including Chelsea, Bournemouth, Brentford and RB Salzburg.
His experience at Chelsea was particularly notable, with the youngster spending a month at the club’s Cobham training centre, where he trained with both the Under-18 and Under-21 teams and featured in youth fixtures against prominent opposition, including Manchester United and Sheffield United.
The midfielder also gained valuable senior experience during a loan spell with Legon Cities, which began in September 2024, before later featuring for French lower-division side US Avranches on loan.
On the international stage, Ganiwu has represented Ghana at multiple youth levels.
He first rose to prominence with the Ghana U-16 side at the UEFA Youth Championship in Serbia, playing an important role as the Black Starlets produced impressive victories over Serbia, Spain and Switzerland on their way to winning the tournament.
He subsequently progressed to the Ghana U-17 team before earning a place in Maxwell Konadu’s Black Satellites squad for the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
His move to Dynamo Kyiv represents another major step in the youngster’s development. The Ukrainian giants are competing in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds this season, while the club has a long-standing reputation for developing young players and giving them a pathway towards senior football.
Ganiwu will now look to adapt to his new surroundings in Ukraine, continue his development within Dynamo Kyiv’s system and ultimately work his way into the first-team picture.
The move marks an exciting new chapter for the Ghanaian teenager, who will be hoping to fulfil his considerable potential at one of Eastern Europe’s most decorated clubs. 🇬🇭🇺🇦🔥
